PDAC Newsletter. Issue 4

Check out what's been happening this month

7th July Committee Meeting

This month's committee meeting tackled what is likely the club's most significant issue in recent years.

For several months, we've been seeking assistance to strengthen the team managing the PDAC. After inviting members to attend a meeting last month, we received an excellent response.

Thirteen members stepped up and dedicated their time to join us.

During the meeting, we had a very open and honest discussion, with everyone sharing ideas and opinions to help advance the club. I believe many of these suggestions will be implemented to improve the club and the experience for our members.

This resulted in the addition of five new committee members, a new bailiff, and a new rivers warden. They bring a variety of skills that complement our existing expertise, including financial, media, and business knowledge, alongside years of angling experience across all types. This can only benefit us.

There was also support from others willing to assist with work parties and daily water maintenance, which is very encouraging.

Along with the other committee members, I am deeply grateful to these individuals for offering their support to guide us into the future.

Club Events

Due to the ongoing hot weather, I urge all club members to regularly check the website and Facebook page for updates on upcoming events, as they may be rescheduled or canceled at short notice.

We are continuously monitoring both the waters and the weather, as the well-being of our members, volunteers, and fish stocks remains our top priority.

Club Waters

The current weather is a major concern, and we are regularly monitoring the waters. For now, the waters remain open, but we ask members to keep watch for any signs of fish distress and inform us if they notice anything.

Please ensure that fish are kept out of the water for the shortest possible time, keep unhooking mats shaded, and use water in the shade to dampen them before use.

In terms of fishing, the waters are still productive, with some carp appearing at Coombe mainly at night, although many silvers are visible during the day.

Nyewood is also performing well, with carp visible in the bottom pond and silvers in both the top and bottom ponds.

The rivers are fishing well, with one angler catching six different species in a single session.

Unfortunately, we haven't received many reports from East Pond and Bo Peep, although I did a quick early morning session at Bo Peep, which yielded carp, rudd, roach, and perch.

I encourage everyone to provide catch reports from any club water you fish, as this helps us monitor the waters' performance.

Finally, stay safe in this weather, remember to hydrate and stay in the shade.
