The water temperature had dropped by 6°c since my last visit (05/05). East pond to me is a warm weather venue and does fish better in the warmer months and sport drops off during the cold weather, So I wasn’t expecting the silvers to show up in any great numbers. (I should read my own notes) First bite was ten minutes after setting up and this was on the drop. Small perch of 4oz if that, this was how the day proceeded. Small perch with larger one to 3/4lb. for the day. The wind changed to a sharp east wind which lowered the air and water temp by 1°c. Bites then dropped off. Set to fish just off the bottom and bites then started again, but not with the frequency as before. One very small roach did take the maggot, and that was the only silver that day. Will it put me off fishing East Pond, simple answer is no, East Pond to me is a warmer (summer) venue, when sport is none stop. Give it a try! |

Until next time, tight lines.
Steve.
