JCC Junior League

Harting Combe hosted the final series of the JCC Junior League on Saturday, September 20th.
Seven juniors participated in the match, with everything still to play for, with two members experiencing their first PDAC event. All competitors knew they had a chance to win the Aggregate Trophy, as the venue had recently yielded some surprising weights. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be, as everyone struggled with the constantly changing weather conditions, and the fish were simply not biting.
Luke Hales started the day as the frontrunner to potentially secure both the Masters and Aggregate Trophies. Yet, Emily Hankin altered the situation dramatically with a very late Tench and a total weight, including silvers, of 5lb 1oz. Luke, sharing second place with 10oz, indicated that the outcome would be tight, leading to a tense wait for the official results.

Event officials announced that both Luke and Emily scored 37 points, resulting in a tie for the Masters Trophy. However, after a victory count back, Emily Hankin was declared the winner of the Masters.
Despite this, not all was lost for Luke Hales. Before the match, he was named the "Most Improved Angler" by the Development Team. Just a couple of years ago, he participated in the Development Programmes' "GET FISHING" campaign with minimal angling experience and was part of the club's junior scene last season, competing in individual and team events. Luke showed consistency throughout this season's JCC Junior League and won the Aggregate Trophy with a combined weight of 30lb 4ozs, while Emily was a close second with 25lb 15ozs.

The PDAC would like to express gratitude to all junior members who participated, as well as their parents and guardians, the Development Programme, and the league sponsors, JCC Lighting. We are eager to begin planning next year's events soon.
