Bopeep Update.

Bopeep is still closed and is likely to stay that way for the rest of the season. The pond depends on land drainage from the nearby hills and fields, and the lack of sufficient rainfall in recent months has lowered the water levels to a point where fishing is not feasible, prioritising the welfare of the stock.

The warm conditions has also encouraged the growth of the weed, although this has deterred predators and provided the much needed oxygen for the fish, but the weed has now got to the point to where the stock are struggling to manoeuvre freely around the pond.

Work parties have been organised to clear some of the weed. On Saturday, the 18th, the first session took place, with eight members removing a third of the weed. Another session is planned for Saturday, October 25th.

The committee would like to thank the three new members who joined our small group of volunteers this Saturday, including one member who travelled up from Fareham.

As mentioned, another session is scheduled for Saturday, October 25th at 8:30 am. Sessions may continue weekly until the task is completed. We would appreciate members volunteering to help. Please contact us.
