The PDAC Development Programme conducts outreach campaigns by attending various community events, engaging with hundreds of attendees to promote upcoming Get Fishing events.

Petersfield Summer Festival. 2-day event

Get Fishing is the Angling Trust’s dedicated campaign aimed at encouraging a larger number of individuals to engage in fishing activities more frequently. This initiative plays a crucial role in promoting the sport and fostering a sense of community among anglers. Each year, the Angling Trust allocates funds to support and organise hundreds of diverse events tailored for participants of all ages and varying skill levels, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the joys of fishing.
The Get Fishing angling events are meticulously designed for anyone who has a desire to enter the world of fishing, whether they are complete novices eager to learn the basics, individuals looking to rekindle their passion for angling, or those simply seeking information on the best fishing spots, suitable companions for their fishing journeys, essential equipment to get started, and guidance on how to embark on their first fishing adventure with confidence.

Our Get Fishing events are particularly well-suited for both individuals and families who are in search of beginner-friendly sessions that provide a comprehensive introduction to fishing. These events are structured to accommodate participants of all ages and abilities, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility. Angling not only serves as a recreational activity but also offers significant benefits as a powerful, non-clinical therapeutic practice. Engaging in fishing can lead to improvements in mental health by providing a serene environment conducive to relaxation, stress relief, and fostering social connections among participants.

At our events, we pride ourselves on having qualified coaches and dedicated club volunteers available to offer expert advice and support. They are equipped to answer any questions you may have, whether they pertain to techniques, equipment, or local fishing regulations. This network of knowledgeable individuals is committed to ensuring that your experience is not only enjoyable but also educational, empowering you with the skills and confidence needed to pursue fishing independently in the future.
Since the inception of the PDAC Development Programme, the club has hosted 12 complimentary one-off angling experience events, attracting nearly 750 participants aged from 3 to 80 years.
"Inspiring the next generation of anglers"

Teach-in Sessions.
We provide 2-hour teach-in sessions led by a Level 2 qualified coach, supported by experienced volunteers. These sessions offer valuable skills, tips, and advice to enhance your skills.

The sessions include basic methods, knot and casting demonstrations, table displays, equipment advice, fish handling, fish care, and a Q&A session.
Participants receive Bronze, Silver, and Gold Angling Trust awards.
We welcome individuals of all ages, whether new to angling or experienced, including families and those with disabilities. These sessions have limited spots, require booking, and are held throughout the summer months.
Individual & Team Participation.
The PDAC seeks to motivate young people to take part in both individual and team events. This is an excellent opportunity for young anglers to connect with others, enhance communication skills, boost self-confidence, and develop stronger relationships with peers.
We invite non-members of all skill levels to join in the Junior open matches. These events offer a warm and friendly environment, making it a perfect opportunity to meet new friends.

The Programme now host Junior Opens and a Junior League throughout the summer months; along with Inter-club events with neighbouring clubs. Team events are great for team building exercises and designed to encourage communication-focused, trust-building, problem-solving, and decision-making and to strengthen interpersonal relationships.

Support.
All GET FISHING events are regulated and partially funded by the Angling Trust, though club events are self-funded through donations and operated by the programme's volunteers. It's crucial to have support for this to continue annually.
Both members and non-members can contribute by volunteering for the programme or donating any second-hand tackle. Your donations are given to youngsters, and items that aren't suitable are sold at car boot sales to raise funds for the programme.

If you're interested in volunteering or making a donation, please email thepdac@gmail.com
Your support can make a significant impact!
