Event: Godalming Juniors Vs PDAC Juniors
Date: Saturday 15th May 2021
Venue: Marsh Farm, Milford
This was the first Junior event of 2021, our team on the day was made up of Aaron Vidler & Nathaniel Laskowski competing in an inter-club junior match versus Godalming AC.
We arrived at Marsh Farm around 8:30am and were unfortunately greeted with black clouds and the expectation of rain. Having spoken to a few of the venue regulars throughout the week we were expecting the fishing to be tough. Due to us only having 2 team members it was agreed that the match would be decided by the top 2 weights from each team on a simple points basis.
At the draw Aaron drew out Peg 10 and Nathaniel Peg 17. After a quick walk around the shop, we made our way to the pegs.
The day started slow for both Aaron and Nathaniel however it wasn’t long before Nathanial had his first bite on the waggler. This resulted in a lovely Crucian carp and a great start to the match.
He carried on fishing the waggler for the rest of the match and this proved to the be the way forward on the day for Nathaniel. He put a great bag of 4lb 4oz together which consisted of 1 Crucian and a couple of Skimmers this was enough to seal 3rd place overall individually.
Down in Peg 10 – Aaron also had a slow start, trying the feeder and the whip. The midway point he had 1 roach in the bag, a quick change of tactics and a look down his right-hand margin on the whip with Maggots proved to be the turning point. This has produced 3 pristine looking Crucians, one after another. The final section of the match was spent catching a few silvers up in the water on the whip to add to his weight.
Aaron managed to put a superb 7lb 12oz on the scales and this was enough to secure 2nd place overall.

1st – Michael Ewing (GAS) - 17lb
2nd – Aaron Viddler (PDAC) - 7lb 12oz
3rd Nathaniel Laskowski (PDAC) – 4lb 4oz
4th – George Evans (GAS) – 2lb 2oz
5th – Leo Hackman (GAS) – 12oz
6th – Cameron (GAS) – 12oz
By achieving an individual 2nd and 3rd we managed to draw with Godalming which means it's all to play for on the return fixture at Nyewood in a couple of months’ time. If there any other juniors that wish to join the team for this event please let me know.

Overall team results on the day were Godalming 5 points vs Petersfield 5 points.
Next up is the Junior Open at Nyewood on the 31st July 2021. There are still spaces available so do not hesitate to get in touch if you like to fish.
