On Saturday, the 26th of July, Nyewood Ponds became the backdrop for another highly successful GET FISHING event, organised by the dedicated PDAC Development team along with a group of enthusiastic volunteers. This event not only attracted a remarkable turnout but also fostered a sense of community and shared passion for fishing among participants.
Throughout the day, over 50 attendees gathered at the ponds, many of whom were experiencing angling for the very first time. The event provided an excellent opportunity for newcomers to learn the basics of fishing, including techniques for baiting hooks, casting lines, and retrieving in their catches. Under the guidance of experienced and qualified volunteers, participants enjoyed successfully catching a mixed array of fish, which included species such as carp, roach, bream, rudd and eels. The thrill of the catch was palpable, as smiles spread across faces with each successful catch.
The PDAC would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the 16 volunteers who played an instrumental role in making this event a resounding success. Their unwavering commitment and enthusiasm were evident throughout the day, as they provided essential support and guidance to the attendees. It is their continued dedication that ensures these free community events can be organised and delivered in a safe, professional, and enjoyable manner. The volunteers not only assisted with the fishing activities but also helped in setting up the venue, ensuring that all safety protocols were followed, and creating a welcoming environment for all participants.
Another highlight of the day was the exciting observation of some of the new stock of fish that had recently been introduced into the ponds. This development is promising for future fishing the club's members and future events.
