Club volunteers have initiated the first of three phases of the Nyewood Ponds improvement plan. The initial islands have been installed as fish refuges to protect our stocks from Cormorants. All islands feature a built-in barrier to deter waterfowl, and once planted, they will also contribute to improved water quality. This work is part of the Angling Improvement Programme, funded by the Environment Agency (rod licence sales) through the Angling Trust.
The work will continue over the next few weeks, with minimal disruption, and both ponds will remain open to members.
