Set hook to just touch the lakebed, (four metre depth) one piece of maize three metres from bank. 06.00am. lots of small silvers 4 to 6 ounce. Basically, one a cast. 06.15am. 9lb common carp. Not sure how I landed it. Led me a merry dance around the lilies. Then more silvers, Rudd taking maize on the drop. 07.10am. another 9lb common carp, like the first, both in pristine condition. 07.20am. 1 ½ lb Rudd, or it would have been a lovely Rudd, but the slime up the hook link and in the net would suggest it was a hybrid. Swapped over to small red worm, 1lb perch then a lot of smaller perch, it was small silvers and perch from then on, they were that greedy, I caught Rudd a foot from the bank. Switched back to maize and caught a 3/4lb perch. 09.30 am, 8lb common carp and smaller silvers. Conclusion. Total perch = 41, larger 1lb Total Rudd and hybrids = 31, largest 1 ½ lb Total Commons 3, largest 9lb. Parking can be a bit of a problem, the school bus leaves the layby at 06.30am Monday to Friday, or park further up the road where the road widens. It’s well worth a day or even half a day. If you have mobility issues stick to the higher peg numbers. |
